Who our retreats are suited for?
Our retreats are best suited for teens and families who:
-
Are seeking to strengthen connection, communication, and understanding within the family
-
Are experiencing relational stress, conflict, or disconnection rather than acute crisis
-
Are open to reflective, relational, and experiential activities in a small group setting
-
May be neurodivergent and benefit from a flexible, strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach
-
Have existing professional supports in place (or are stable without them) and are looking for a complementary experience
-
Are able to engage in a shared family experience with appropriate support and preparation
We work collaboratively with families and referrers to ensure the retreat environment is supportive, safe, and appropriate for each participant.
Who our retreats are NOT suited for?
Our retreats may not be appropriate for families where:
-
A teen is experiencing acute mental health crisis (e.g. active suicidality, unmanaged psychosis, or severe risk to self or others)
-
There is a current need for intensive clinical intervention or 1:1 therapeutic containment
-
Significant safety concerns are present that cannot be reasonably supported in a retreat setting
-
The family is seeking the retreat as a replacement for therapy, crisis support, or statutory services
-
A participant is unwilling or unable to engage safely in a group-based environment, even with reasonable adjustments
In these cases, we prioritise ethical practice and will support families to seek or remain engaged with appropriate clinical or crisis services.
